The xtorch origin

We made the XTorch – a durable, reliable solar powered flashlight, lantern and back-up cell phone charger for off-grid and just-in-case emergency use. The XTorch is field-tested and deployed in the most remote world environments and under the harshest conditions to ensure that it works when you most need it.

Our Mission

“To bring mobile light and power to those who suffer without, and to work in partnership with International Non-Profit Organizations, in support of their efforts in disaster relief, refugee aid, medical and general humanitarian outreach.”

gene palusky

GENE PALUSKY

Gene was inspired to found XTorch after much travel and development work while in Equatorial Guinea, Africa, The Dominican Republic and other remote world areas that lacked lighting and power. He saw children fearful and unable to study after sunset, families’ loss of productive evening hours and expensive cell phone recharging costs. Gene designed the XTorch to be rugged enough for the extreme remote and at the same time ideal for everyday home use.

BOB SWEAT

Bob has been our lead engineer, who has rescued us multiple times throughout the development process of the XTorch. Bob oversaw design and manufacturing, and served as our #1 go-to guy when problems arose and when the project needed a compass to keep it moving forward.

Keidy

KEIDY LORA PALUSKY

Keidy is our secret weapon. It is by her grace and understanding that the XTorch came to be. Keidy brings her Dominican charm and insight to our international perspective. She best understands what it is to live without reliable lighting and power, having grown up in the Dominican Republic. She offers ideas on design, marketing and helps us to maintain the mission first and foremost. (And she loves good food – maybe more than breathing!)
